Final stage

So now for the final stage of needle felting. I decided for my first attempts I would go base my designs on the Bisenti Wine Festival. Lots of grapes, vines, wine, and wine barrels.

This is still an area of experimentation, and as I practice more the ideas are flowing.

I purchased a starter kit for needle felting which has been very helpful as it contains 36, 38 and size 40 needles. I discovered early on that I could not needle felt onto the canvas. This was due to the canvas being covered in gesso. This doesn’t hold wool very well! So I purchased 100% cotton to needle felt directly onto. This has worked really well so far and will be wrapped around the canvas instead. I have also purchased 90% wool and 10% polyester felt which is more robust for my planned wine festival key rings.

Currently I have a few designs in my gallery but these will be added to as I progress.

It’s an exciting project and something I feel passionate about. Taking a 100% Abruzzo product and making it into beautiful art work.
